Our Services
|
- Preventative Health Care
A comprehensive physical exam is the basic tool our doctors use to evaluate your animal's health status and to help you make informed decisions about the care of your special companion. This is where preventative care begins.
As a way to emphasize preventative health care, here are a few of the special programs and services that we offer:
-puppy and kitten health care plans
-senior health care plans
-Pfizer PreventiCare program for horses
- Dental Care
Dental cleaning, or prophylaxis, is essential for maintaining healthy teeth and gums, for both large and small animals. As plaque and tartar form on teeth and under gums, bacteria collect and multiply. This creates a state of poor dental hygiene that causes foul mouth odor and is reason for concern. Eventually, gum disease will develop. More serious health problems, such as heart and kidney disease, may follow. Proper dental care has its rewards. Animals feel better and can live longer healthier lives.
- Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgical Services
Our doctors are all trained in soft tissue surgery such as spays, neuters/castrations and mass removals for both small and large animals. In addition, they are able to perform many orthopedic procedures including bone fracture and knee repairs.
- Radiology and Ultrasound
Our radiology and ultrasound equipment and technical expertise enables us to take and interpret radiographs whenever and wherever needed both in-house and in the field. If further interpretation is required, the services of a veterinary radiology specialist are available.
- In-House Diagnostic Laboratory
For quicker diagnostic results, we are equipped with an in-house laboratory. This allows us to perform many blood, urine and cytology tests and immediately have the results.
- Large and Small Animal Reproductive Services
Our veterinarians are interested and well trained in all aspects of reproduction. They are experienced with live cover as well as artificial insemination using both fresh chilled and frozen semen. They also routinely perform surgical implantation techniques. For small animals, our veterinarians are trained to perform emergency and scheduled caesarian sections.
- Microchip Identification
Microchip ID can be used on any animal, large or small. It is safe and permanent. In a quick and easy procedure, a chip containing a personal 10-digit code with the owner's name, address and telephone number is inserted under the pet's skin between the shoulder blades. From this information an owner can be located and reunited with their pet.
- OFA certification
All of our veterinarians are trained to perform OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America)certification, a radiographic procedure used to rate whether or not dogs are free from hip and elbow dysplasia. This certification is used before breeding.
- Emergency Services
Cinder Rock offers round-the-clock emergency care; during non-business hours our answering service will quickly connect you with our on-call veterinarian.
- Advanced Diagnostic Services
Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic has an affiliation with Dr. Leslie Griffith, who is a boarded Diplomate of Internal Medicine. Dr. Griffith provides advanced diagnostic services in echocardiography as well as abdominal and thoracic ultrasound. In addition, she performs therapeutic acupuncture for dogs, cats and horses.

Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic offers our clients a home away from home for their companion animals on a limited basis. Because our boarding capacity is small, we fill up quickly, particularly on weekends and holidays, and reservations are recommended well in advance.
